Is there a computer hardware that allows you to plugin a microphone with an “insertion thingy” like this:

to a computer? What is it called? I prefer the ones with adjustments like the input volume, amount of echo and things like that, either through a software that comes with the device or the hardware itself.

Here’s what I want to do:

I plugin the microphone to that device, and plug the device onto the computer via USB, therefore allowing me to record through the
microphone.

I’ve been Googling ["pentium 4" "cache performance"], but can’t seem to find anything on how a P4 with say, 1M of cache, has performance advantages (and why it would) than a P4 with 512M of cache (or a 2M cache advantage over a 1M cache).
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
