ninja asked: I am just curious on how do you diagnose a hardware problem.
My desktop PC will not boot the harddrive. It loads the motherboard screen but it will not go beyond that. Randomly when I turn on my computer, it all of sudden boots up properly. But if I shut it down and turn it on again, the computer will not boot up past the motherboard screen again. I am positive this is not a software issue, but I believe I may have some faulty hardware.
Does anyone know what may be wrong with my computer, if not do you know a way I may diagnose it without having to bring in a new motherboard and such.
There are no beeping sounds when I boot up.

santo asked: I am trying to find out the system hardware configuration. For example, how many memory sticks are installed, speed of the processor, HD size and type etc. I have heard that there is a free program you can run to get these statistics for you but I dont know the name or where to find it from? Has anyone used a program that lists these for you?
Thanks!

E-Man asked: Ok, here is the situation:
I just got a computer built, but I am not happy with the motherboard because I cannot crossfire my ATI graphics card (ATI Radeon HD 4800 series)
Here is my mother board:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131340
Hear is the Motherboard I want:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131331
Would it still work if I took all of my hardware (ram, cpu, gpu, etc.) and put it on the motherboard I want? Im also planning on changing my case because the case I have now is quiet cheap.
Anyway let me know, Thanks!
Sorry, the Motherboard I listed is the wrong one… Here is the one I want, would it work?

AusKeg asked:
Have a four year old system which has been runing a 7300 GS AGP for 3 years. Over the past 5 months it has been flickering white pixels during all and any games. Then 2 months ago after flickering white pixels it would freeze about half an hour into a gaming session. The onlyway to get out was to restart the computer manually. Then last night it froze with a stationary black screen. Then after running a DX Diagnostic and searching through other hardware properties, i found that the computer did not recognise the card but everything else looks okay. Now i can only use it in safe mode, but my question is:
Do i need a new graphics card or is something else to blame or both? And if i do get a new GFX card, what would be the best AGP Tye of card and how much would it cost??? cheers, AusKeg

crib_wizzard asked: This is the hardware I currently have in my computer.
OS=Windows Xp with SP
Video Card=G-Force 4600
CPU=XP4600
Power Supply=Allied 400w max
Audio=Sound blast 5.0
I built this computer in May of 2002. I have not used or connected it to the internet since November of 2006. I have recently regained interst in computer gaming and bought Microsft games like flight simlator and luxor 3. As my computer is today I can not play these games. I know I need to upgrade my CPU due to the lack of MHz need and what I have. My question is If I upgrade to a 3 MHz CPU will I need to upgrade my Power supply, video card and/or sound card? What CPU is the best value to get?
