Sometimes my computer just automatically shuts downs completely, is this a virus or hardware failure ?

So today i was cleaning my PC (not a laptop) heat sink (the really big fan) and i did’nt really ground myself lol. well i touched a ringing clock with the metal things on both sides like micky house ears just that the diffrence is theres a metal stick with a ball on top of it that you know when the alarm clock rings the stick hits boths sides.

yeah lol sorry if i confused you, anyways so after i touched it i decided to clean my fan and i touched my graphics card a few times by accident.

so i was wondering how do i find out if my hardware is failing cause of static? for example, if i am playing game, does it work but not properly or does it not work at all? and how do i find out WHICH computer hardware if failing?
