Custom building computer hardware?
Thursday, June 4th, 2009hexenmiester asked:
Ok, so I know the whole process of building a computer, but I really make alot of mistakes when it comes to choosing the hardware and making sure if its compatible with everything etc… So i’m planning to build 2 computers 1 for each of my children. It might be a dumb question for some out there, but can someone confirm that my hardware are compatible? thank you very much for your time.

Comp. 1
Motherboard: GA-MA770-UD3 (ATX)
Processor: AMD Athlon X2 4850e (Dual Core)
Case: Antec 300 (ATX)
PSU:I have a unused PSU 430 watts for ATX so I’m sure that this will work.
Comp. 2 (This one is my main concern. I’ve never built a quad core before so I’m not positive if this setup works.)
Motherboard: GA-MA78G-DS3H (ATX)
Processor: AMD Phenom II X4 920 (Quad Core)
Case: Antec 300 (ATX)
PSU: Broadway Com Corp Okia 650W (ATX)
You might wonder why I didnt put video card, RAM etc but I am 100% sure those work so… Thanks for your help!!!
What computer hardware failure would result in the computer never getting into the boot cycle?
Wednesday, June 3rd, 2009Old Man Time asked:
I have a custom built computer and recently it would not start up anymore. When the machine is on the light on the mobo is on and all the devices (hard drives, vid card, disc drives, etc..) appear to have power (the fans are going or I can feel the hard disc spinning when I place my hand on top of it). The computer does not beep at all in start up and the BIOS is not being displayed to the monitor (if this were a disc error the BIOS would still load….). The other thing I noticed is that the mouse never gets power although it is plugged in. I am trying to narrow down where the hardware failure is and my best guess is the MoBo.
So in short, my machine turns on and all the internal devices appear to be receiving power. There is no display, no beeps during startup, and the mouse does not receive power although it is plugged in (I know because it is a laser mouse).
Can someone with a little computer expertise please help me diagnose my computer’s ailment?
