Ok, so I know the whole process of building a computer, but I really make alot of mistakes when it comes to choosing the hardware and making sure if its compatible with everything etc… So i’m planning to build 2 computers 1 for each of my children. I have a custom built computer and recently it would not start up anymore. When the machine is on the light on the mobo is on and all the devices (hard drives, vid card, disc drives, etc..) appear to have power (the fans are going or I can feel the hard disc spinning when I place my hand on top of it). The computer does not beep at all in start up and the BIOS is not being displayed to the monitor (if this were a disc error the BIOS would still load….). The other thing I noticed is that the mouse never gets power although it is plugged in. I am trying to narrow down where the hardware failure is and my best guess is the MoBo.
So in short, my machine turns on and all the internal devices appear to be receiving power. There is no display, no beeps during startup, and the mouse does not receive power although it is plugged in (I know because it is a laser mouse).
Can someone with a little computer expertise please help me diagnose my computer’s ailment?
