ok i want to switch out some hardware with my dell inspiron 530s with my old compaq pc.
i use the dell for my computer and the compaq i let my bros use to browse the internet.
my dell uses low priority graphics card because thats the only compatible do to its size and the motherboard will only support low priority

what i want from the compaq into my dell : motherboard, Interated ATI Radeon Express 200, and the power supply. I’m keeping everything else that is with the dell like the intel duel core processor, HDD, etc…

what i want into my compaq from the dell: motherboard, graphics card (not sure exactly what it is, it came with the pc) and the power supply. I want to keep in the 3200 AMD Sempron Processor, the HDD, etc…

the reason for all this is to be able to buy a new graphics card for my dell soon that is not low priority.
oh they are both 32 bit
dell runs vista home premium
compaq runs xp home edition (i have already used vista on the compaq, it runs fine)

so i went on this site which had some pop-ups and after a while my computer went silent.

i’m running windows xp home edition

i have antivirus installed and running, and also did a sweep with ad-aware

basically there is no sound coming out of the computer anymore, not the clicking while surfing the net, not the music playing on win media player, nothing.

the volume is NOT on MUTE or TURNED ALL THE WAY DOWN, its all the way up, on BOTH the computer and speakers.

i went to SETTINGS then SOUNDS PROPERTY and all the setup seems to be fine.
i went to DEVICE MANAGER and there are NO EXCLAMATION MARKS anywhere.

i restarted the computer and still no sound, not even when windows starts or shuts down (you know the sound)
I also restarted in safe mode and that did not fix anything.

if i turn my speakers all the way up, then press the MUTE on the computer I can hear a little click, which is normal when the speakers are all the way up.

what can it be? its motherboard sound.

hak8or, i’m just asking a simple question. there is no need to be so obnoxious. i don’t have time right this minute to learn about hacking and computer security.

and yes if you must know there were three suspicious people in a row on my computer and one of them did put something on it for no reason and i can’t get it off.

Yeah, I meant ATI.! Also when I try to play Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 it freezes on my computer. Whenever I install the graphics card the computer takes forever to find the hardware. Any explanations?
